In a shorttime the rebels had secured the arsenal atthe important city of Hankow, and on Oc-tober 14 General Li Yuan Heng, com-mander-in-chief of the revolutionists, set upmilitary authority in the cities of Wuchang,Hankow, and Hanyang.
