A Roman bronze ewer with a handle attachment in the form of Cupid, 1st century Cast bronze complemented by cold-working. Slender, slightly bulbous ewer on a lightly flared foot rim, the bottom with three concentric circles. Curved handle culminating in swan heads resting on the grooved rim, in the centre an acanthus ornament, the lower end of the handle terminating in a finely chiselled attachment representing a winged cupid, his torso rising from garland-like foliage, his chubby face framed by curls and crowned with a leaf wreath.
