Propane, molecular model. Atoms are represented by spheres (carbon: black, hydrogen: white) with the bonds between them as grey sticks. Propane (C3H8)

Propane, molecular model. Atoms are represented by spheres (carbon: black, hydrogen: white) with the bonds between them as grey sticks. Propane (C3H8) is a saturated organic compound. It is an alkane and is widely produced as a fuel, including for camping stoves and barbecues. Alkanes have carbon-carbon single bonds, as opposed to alkenes which have a carbon-carbon double bond. For an image of propene, the equivalent alkene, see image C001/0719.
