Beyond, the forms of factories andwarehouses, their smokestacks stabbing the air, extend to alighthouse at the end of the spit, which curves round tomeet the end of a long jetty on the left, leaving a narrow en-trance between them. In the foreground, a large three-masted sailing vessel is left stranded by the tide, her sailsdangling from her upper yards, her tall masts and riggingforming graceful patterns against the sky. In the distance asmall boat passes and the sea extends to the shore line, show-ing blue in the distance under a sky which is covered withheavy rolling cumuli.
