In these intractable caseswe may be justified in resorting to surgical treatment- Thisconsists in amputating the superfluous tissue. It may beperformed with the scissors, or the ecraseur, with but littletrouble and with little fear of hemorrhage. Styptics should,of course, always be at hand to arrest any free flow ofblood that might occur. The important thing after the op-eration is to maintain the size of the os uteri, and preventits closing.
