The Jeremiah O'Brien is a Liberty ship built during the Second World War, and is one of only two such ships in the world that are still operational. She was built in Portland, Maine, and served the merchant marine fleet during the war before being mothballed after the war. The O'Brien was present for D-Day, and when she returned to France in 1994 for the 50th anniversary she was the only large ship to attend that had actually been there in 1944.
