The above cut represents a sectional view, showing the insideof this truly superior Lettuce, the heads of which grow to aremarkable size, and are deliciously sweet, tender and crisp, even to the outer leaves. The heads are very large. A singleone is frequently large enough for an ordinary sized family ;the color is of the most beautiful green without, and whitewithin, and is free from any bitter or unpleasant taste found insome varieties. The heads Avcigh from 2i to 3 lbs., and meas-ure to outer leaves 18 inches in diameter. This variety is notrecommended for forcing, but for outdoor cultivation it cannotbe excelled, if grown in well manured and cultivated package, 15 cents.
