DISCARDED FISHING LINE REMOVES GULL'S LEG.
This seagull, an immature herring gull, has clearly got tangled in angler's discarded fishing line and the line has wound so tightly around its leg that it has stopped blood flowing into leg and it has dropped off. Unfortunately for the gull, the leg is still attached to the line and it will probably have to drag its leg around like this for as many years as it lives as this line will outlive the bird. It is much more likely the leg will act like a 'grapple' and get hooked up in some vegetation and prevent the bird from moving, it will then starve to death. If only that thoughtless angler had taken his discarded line home!
