In his political viewshe was a stalwart Democrat, but never caredfor the honors or emoluments of public died February 25, 1887, and his wife,who still survi\es him, is hale and has since married John B. Furbush, anative of Xew York, who for many yearshas resided in Sidney, engaged in variousbusiness pursuits, but at the present timehe is living retired from active labor, hav-ing no business cares save the managementof his property interests. His wife was adaughter of Henry J. and Deborah (Griffin). He wasalso an inventor of note and invented thefirst corn-sheller. His bnsiness ability andkeen sagacity enabled him to acquire a valu-able property and his real estate in Peoriawas extensive. He also owned a num1)er offarms. His wife died in Peoria, in 1849,after which he sold his property in thatcity and in 1866 came to Fremont county,where he purchased land and improved afarm. He also bought farm land in Ne-braska and the labor and impro\ement whichhe put upon it made it very valuable. Hisinvestments were judiciously placed and hisbusiness judgment was rarely at fault.
