A new discovery of the umbrella liverwort Marchantia Polymorpha, with an associated moss, found near Lost Lagoon in Stanley cup like structures that you see on the thalli are called gemmae cups, which hold the gemmae- the things that look like little seeds. The gemmae cups themselves are about 2mm wide. Rain drops hit these gemmae cups and scatter the gemmae, which allow the liverwort to reproduce.
