The adventitial connective tissue of someof the vessels underwent a marked proliferation. In some instances there wasan apparent thickening of the adventitial coat. These changes, however, can-not be interpreted as an inflammatory reaction. Brain: A systematic study of numerous sections from the brain stem andcerebral hemispheres in Case 1 showed only small areas of perivascular soft-ening, with an accumulation in the vicinity of the vessel of a limited numberof gitter cells and occasional amyloid bodies.
