Amid all the tumults of life he has found time to devote toliterary works ; he has a model library, and for years has beenaccustomed to deliver popular lectures on various subjects, andamong them, Washington and its Defences, Harpers Fer-ry, and especially his late and popular lecture on SalemWitchcraft, which has been received with great favor throughout the country. The Jackson Citizen (Mich.), in speaking of it, says : is a lawyer of superior ability, and his word-picturesof that terrible delusion were as vivid as the closest acquaint-ance could make them.
