An auxiliary header is extendedover each row of boilers, these two headers being inter-connected and* supplied independently from the feed-pumps. A 14-in. steam header in two sections is supported on thewall between the engine room and boiler room, the twosections being connected by an 8-in. loop. Two are extended from each section of the steamheader to connections with the first row of boilers and arethen continued as 9-in. lines to the second row of two drums of each boiler have, a 6-in. connection withone of these branches, the connections each having: a check. GENERAL PLAN OF GENERATING EQUIPMENT, STEAM PIPING, ETC. basement. Make-up water is supplied to the heaters froma connection with the city mains, and a second connection•with those mains is provided so the heaters may be sup-plied entirely with cold water, if necessary. The steam-consuming units of the auxiliary equipment in the stationdischarge their exhaust steam into the feed-water heaters. The boiler-feed pumps can draw either from the feed-water heaters, from a condenser discharge tunnel underthe engine room, or from the city mains. Each pair ofpumps supplies a separate system of feed-water pipingfor the boilers, the two systems being interconnected soany pump can supply either row of boilers. A 4-in. mainfeed-water header, hung from the ceiling of the basementunder the boiler room, is provided for each row of headers are supplied through a connection fromboth sets of pumps, each boiler having a connection with and stop valve and an
