Saint Michael Monastery Cathedral Saint Barbara Painting Facade Kiev Ukraine. Saint Michael's is a functioning Greek Orthodox Monastery in Kiev. The original monastery was created in the 1100s but was destroyed by the Soviet Union in the 1930s. St. Michaels was reconstructed after Ukrainian independence in 1991 and reopened in 1999.
