Gig rowing race, Atkinson Trophy, Gannel estuary to Newquay

Traditional Cornish 6 man gig rowing teams compete for the Newquay rowing clubs Atkinson Trophy. the competition is followed by supporters in local fishing boats. the course runs from the sheltered Gannel estuary start line back across the Ocean to Newquay Harbour. The trophy consists of plinth mounted diesel engine Piston with a bent con rod.
