( x cm), Paintings, Piat Joseph Sauvage (Flemish, Tournai 1744–1818 Tournai), Sauvage, from Tournai, first exhibited in Paris at the Académie de Saint-Luc in 1774, presenting a moralizing subject from ancient history painted as if in imitation of a marble bas-relief. He was admitted to full membership of the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture in 1783 and showed at practically every Salon from 1781 onward
