Fairley) t^ X ^ Taking the various infectious fevers as a whole, the essential part oftreatment is the prevention of complications ; therefore it is necessary forthe nurse to know what the complications peculiar to each disease are,these being- many and varying in severity. The main factors in thetreatment of all contagious diseases are : Sunshine, fresh air, soap and water, and careful nursing. Serum Therapy has had little success—at least with us at theAlexandra Hospital. Antistreptococcic Serum has been used in scarlet fever and erysipelas—has been given a good trial and found wanting.
