Village on the Renon Plateau near Bolzano in Italian Tyrol


Bolzano, the capital of South Tyrol, is a city of inhabitants Here there are medieval arcades, buildings and streets. Bolzano's most famous inhabitant is Ötzi the Iceman in the Archaeology Museum of Bolzano. This is a mummified hunter that was found in the ice on a mountain pass near to Bolzano This lovely mountain city has a distinct Austrian flavour. The Renon Plateau is a rich green plateau featuring earth pyramids and a unique "Train of Renon" a narrow-gauged train built in 1906, on the mountain side between Oberbozen and Klobenstein. Board the Renon Historical Railway for a spectacular trip across the Renon Plateau and view the 'Erdpyramids' - a unique rock formation in the the Renon plateau you can take walking-tours and see marvellous views to the Dolomites mountain range.
