The widow died in 1831. Carlile, Thomas, the younger, of Houston, the second sonof Carlile, Thomas, the elder, of Houston, was born at Houstonin 1792. He went to America for some time, and was AssistantAstronomer at the fixing of the boundary line between Canadaand Later he returned to Scotland, and settled atPaisley, where he married Sarah (born 1799), daughter of JamesBarr, of Paisley. There were four children of the marriage (seeCarlile, Sarah Barr ; Thomas, of Dunblane ; Christina andWilliam, of Bristol). Mr. Carlile died in 1878, his wife havingpredeceased him in 1835.
