Wood carving of Johann Studl at the Studl Hut mountain refuge in the Hohe Tauern mountains close to the Gross Glockner in Austria
The image is of the Studl Hut mountain refuge in the Hohe Tauern mountains of Austria close to the Gross Glockner. The hut is named after Johann Studl from Prague who was instrumental in establishing the Austria Alpine Club in 1862. The hut is popular for folk wanting to climb the Gross Glockner or for an overnight stay as part of the Glockner Runde Tour multiway trek. For more information about this hut and others, see my guidebook Trekking in the Hohe Tauern published by Cicerone Press
