The old Venetian harbor of Hania town in the "blue" hour, Crete island, Greece.

Photo from Hania and its most picturesque point, the old Venetian Port, taken from Kastelli hill, where the ancient Minoan Acropolis of Kydonia used to be. What is really amazing with this town, is that you can "read" its history, while walking in it's beautiful alleys. For example, here you can see the western side of the harbor with the Venetian buildings from the Venetian Era (1204-1645), while on the foreground you can see the Temple of Kucuk Hasan pasha, or Gyali Tzamisi (means "Mosque of the seaside", in greek "Τζαμί του γιαλού"), from the Ottoman era (1645-1897, with a short break of Egyptian rule between 1830-1840). Walking on streets of the old town, you can find the beautiful mansions of the Venetian nobles, the neighborhood of the exiled Jews from Spain (called "Ovriaki"), the Turkish neighborhood in Splatzia, or the quarter of the Egyptian and Arab workers (called "Halikoutides" by the Cretans) of the harbor in Koum Kapi.
