The placing of thewindows and the structureof the grand staircase arecalculated to underline thecharacter of the hall, whichopens into the dining-room,of which an illustration isgiven, an ideal banquetinghall, large and festive withits oak panelling, its elabo-rate white stucco ceilingand two broad, high win- 332 dows. On the ground floor are, further, thebilliard-room, the smoke-room, in Moorish style,and other apartments, whilst the drawing-room, inChippendale, the adjoining library, in a dignified.
