The Museum of Models contains about models ofAmerican and Foreign inventions. POST-OFFICE DEPARTMENT. The Post-office Department covers the square between Seventhand Eighth and E and F Streets. It is built of marble from NewYork and Maryland quarries, and the style of architecture is of theCorinthian order. The building cost $1,700,000. The General Post-olfice formerly occupied a building located on the site of the soutliside wf the Post-office De])artment. It was projected by Samuel. ^ Blodgctt, who intended the building for a large hotel. The pro-ceeds of a lottery were expected to pay for it. The prize tickethaving been drawn by orphan children, who were- without meansto complete the building, it remained in an unfinished state. The(Jovcrnment purchased the building in 1810, and after the burningof the Capitol by the British it was occupied by Congress duringone session. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE. While the office of Attorney-General is as old as the Govern-ment, the Department of Justice was not created until 1870. Alllaw offices are combined and all the law business of the Governmentis done through this department. The department occupies a build-ing originally erected for the Freedmans Bank, opposite the UnitedStates Treasury. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE.
