The Belfry in Amiens (Le Beffroi d'Amiens), Picardy, Somme, France is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

"Not as well-known as Notre-Dame, Amiens’ Belfry has stood in Place au Fil since the 12th century. It symbolised the municipality of Amiens’ independence from feudal power. The city’s first town hall, it is best known for having once served as a prison. A climb of some hundred steps gets you to the terrace, which provides panoramic views over the city and the 18th-century campanile."
