This image may not be used to state or imply ESA endorsement of any company or product Olympus Mons, Mars, height colour-coded satellite image. Olympus Mons is the highest volcano on Mars, standing 27 kilometres (around miles, 88,580 feet) high, about three times the height of Mount Everest. This image covers an area of approximately 600,000 square kilometres and is colour-coded according to height, based on data from the digital terrain model (DTM). The image is an ortho-image mosaic, taken by the High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) on board the European Space Agency's (ESA) Mars Express Orbiter. Matching surface features from 16 HRSC images were used to stitch the images together. Geometrical calculations then produced 3D co-ordinates of all measured points in the area.
