Troops of the first American contingent receive training in France during World War One. This photograph captures soldiers shelling trenches and clearing entanglements before an advance. It was taken by the Signal Corps on March 26, 1918, although the training session itself occurred in 1917. The image was censored and released by the War College Division on March 23, 1918.
