Atlantic bobtail squid (Sepiola atlantica) mating at night in the Mediterranean Sea. This bobtail squid is native to the north-eastern Atlantic Ocean and is not usually found in the Mediterranean. During mating, the male places his sperm in a pouch on the female body, which leads to the fertilisation of the female's eggs.
