The Badavalinga Temple in Hampi is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is carved from a single block of stone. It has the three eyes of Shiva marked on it.

Hampi is the site of an old 14th-16th century AD, remaians of a fabulous city of the Vijayanagara Empire. A prosperous wealthy city by the banks of the Tungabhadra River, Hampi was pillaged and destroyed by the armies of the Delhi Sultanate, particularly by those of Alauddin Khiuljhi and Muhammad Bin Tughlaq.
