Eugenics posters at public fair. Posters used by the American Eugenics Society (AES) to promote their views on marriages (left), comparing human reproduction to agricultural breeding (right). The poster at left refers to 'fit' and 'unfit' marriages, and the inheritance of 'pure', 'tainted' and 'abnormal' traits. The ratios in the six examples are based on the mathematics of Mendelian inheritance. Eugenics is the controversial practice of selectively improving the genetics of human populations.
