Pictured is two-string slide bass player Mark Sandman, who passed away while on tour in 1999. Founded as the National Jazz Festival in 1961, the festival moved to its permanent home at Little John's Farm in Reading in 1971 and is held over the UK’s August bank holiday weekend.
