The present prospect is that the supply of stock will be more nearly adequate than was thought possible before the heat wave came. A return to cooler condi- tions was regarded as a lifesaver and everyone hopes that we shall have cool weather for the balance of the week. It is doubtful if this market ever had so many advance orders on hand at any one time as was the case May 24. Not only were the orders exceptionally nu- merous, but they were of great size. The orders afforded assurance of an enormous week's business, in volume though not in value probably the great- est in the history of the market. The chief uncertainty is as to peonies.
