TURBINE EQUIPMENT The newly installed unit is a four-stage vertical Curtis tur-bine, operated at 700 at 175-lb. steam pressure. The elec-trical end of the unit is a 3000-kw, 2300-volt, 60-cycle, two-phase, eight-pole form T General Electric generator. Theolder units are two 1500-kw, four-stage and one 500-kw, two-stage Curtis turbine sets. The 500-kw unit is equipped with mechanical valve gear, thetwo 1500-kw units with electrical valve gears, and the new. New Turbine Unit in Terre Haute Power Station With the addition of the four new boilers foundations wereprepared for four additional boilers and for one other newstack. The latest installation of boilers is equipped with Roneymechanical stokers 12 ft. 6 in. wide, and stokers of similar de-sign have been purchased for the eight older boilers. Thesewill be installed shortly. WATER SUPPLY Water for boiler feeding and condensing purposes is ob-tained through intakes leading to the Wabash River, about 100ft. distant from the plant. Inasmuch as the level of the riverhas a yearly variation of about 20 ft, the intake constructionis of special design. There are three main intake wells. Anew concrete intake well has been built close to the shore, andis supplied with water by a pipe extending 50 ft. out into theriver. From this large concrete well on the shore, which isfitted with Liberty strainers, water is carried to a well underthe turbine room basement. The sucti
