three-dimensional space-filling molecular model of taxol, the cancer chemotherapy drug

Computer-generated, three-dimensional model of the cancer drug, taxol. Paclitaxel (Taxol) is a mitotic inhibitor used in cancer chemotherapy. It was discovered in a National Cancer Institute program in 1967, isolated it from the bark of the Pacific yew tree, Taxus brevifolia. It is used to treat breast, ovarian, lung, bladder, prostate, melanoma, esophageal, as well as other types of solid tumor cancers. It has also been used in Kaposi's sarcoma.
