A study of some of the factors that influence the yield and the composition of growing pasture grass . made upon the grass, it was necessary to use co-efficients of digestion obtained from other ^ The following coef-ficients were used in the calculation of the digestible nutrients of pasturegrass in this study. Protein was regarded as 70 percent digestible, ether extract, as 63percent, and the carbohydrates, as percent digestible. The entiredata bearing upon the nutritive ratio of pasture grass is shown in Tables53 to 62 inclusive and in Charts XXXVII., XXXVIII., XXXIX., and XL.

The entiredata bearing upon the nutritive ratio of pasture grass is shown in Tables53 to 62 inclusive and in Charts XXXVII., XXXVIII., XXXIX., and XL. Influence of Age of Pasture Season The data upon the influence of the age of the pasture season upon thenutritive ratio of pasture grass is found in Table 60 and Chart XXXVII. Aninspection of these results show that the ratio is widest in May and Sept-ember, while it is narrowest in July and October. The ratio ranges from1: to 1: Influence of Tillage The data upon the influence of tillage upon the nutritive ratio ofpasture grass is found in Table 61 and Chart XXXVIII. It is apparent from. -97- this table and chart that tillage narrows the ratio, especially the firsthalf of the pasture season. During the latter half of the season the effectis uncertain. In August and October no effect is produced, while the grassfor September shows a wider ratio by .7 than the grass from the check change toward a narrower ratio ranges from to Influence of Manure The data for the effect of manure upon the nutritive ratio of pasturegrass is found in Table 60 and Chart XXXVIII. It will be seen here thatmanuring narrows the ratio from to points. This effect is mostpronounced the latter half of the pasture season. The greatest change to-ward a narrower ratio is in September, when the ratio of the grass grownunder the influence of manure becomes narrower by points than the grassfrom the check plot. Influence of Frequency of Cutting The results showing the influenc
