An Italian rapier, circa 1590 Slender tapered blade (lightly pitted in places) of flattened hexagonal section. Fullers on both sides of the forte with an illegible stamped inscription. Slightly tapered fluted ricassos. Elaborate, blackened swept hilt with thumb ring. The quillon finials with embossed knobbed decoration. Original grip with fine brass and iron wire winding and Turks heads. Slightly oval pommel with raised decorative knobs and button finial.
