ARABIAN GULF (June 22, 2018) Army Gen. Joseph Votel, commander of Central Command, coins Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handling) Airman Joley Vessell after dining with Sailors and Marines on the mess decks of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7). Iwo Jima, homeported in Mayport, Fla., is on deployment to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners, and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
