Carrawburgh Northumberland England


A Roman Temple was built by Roman soldiers in Carrawburgh for worship of the Eastern God, Mithras, who originated in Persia. He was the centre of a mysterious cult, popular with the army, which undertook dark mystical ceremonies, which were particularly hated by the Christians
