The plant is located atone end of the reservoircanal (see fig. 6, p. 28)and discharges by a shortwooden flume directly intothe commercial canal out-side. There are two ver-tical centrifugal pumps ofthe square wooden - casetype, with impellers 32 by12 inches and 24 by 8inches, respectively. Eachpump is rope driven by aslide-valve noncondensingengine, steam being sup-plied by a 100-horsepowerreturn - tubular boiler. Afeed-water heater has beeninstalled within the lasttwo years. As far as mere capacityis concerned, when run-ning continuously, thisplant is satisfactory. How-ever,
