Genotype, monobasic: Phryganea pilosa Fabricius. Not known from Illinois. The males of this genus have complicated genitalia, as illustrated by stylata, known from Michi- gan, fig. 877. A few pupae, presumably belonging to this genus, have been received from scattered localities in eastern states. All these pupae were collected from clear, cold, rapid streams. The stone cases were solid and tightly built.
