While not equal to the single in brilliancy, the double varieties last much longer in bloom. The early varieties, such as Due Van Thol, Murillo, Titian, Imperator Rubrorum, and the Tournesols, are excellent for forcing. The later sorts will not bear forcing, but are very effective in beds or borders. A com- bination or solid bed of the pure white and bright scarlet varieties, La Candeur and Rex Rubrorum is especially effective. The average height of each in inches is prefixed.
