Hereturned to camp in i 7C8; and in i 709 was aprpointed physician-general to the Dutch militaryhospital. In consequence of these opportunitieshe acquired great experience, both in medicaland chirurgieal practice. In 1710 he was madeprofessor of anatomy and surgery at Altdorf,and became very celebrated by his lectures andwritings. In 1720 he removed to tlie universityof Hehnstadt, and passed there the remainderof his life.
