210322-N-IE405-3261 GULF OF OMAN (March 22, 2021) - Sailors assigned to the “Vipers” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 48 conduct maintenance on a MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter on the flight deck of guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea (CG 58) in the Gulf of Oman, March 22. Philippine Sea is deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three critical chokepoints to the free flow of global commerce.
