In addition, the company has purchasedthe entire capital stock of the Binghamton RailwayCompany, which operates about 50 miles of street rail-way in the city of Binghamton, N. Y., including ex-tensions to several near-by villages. It will, therefore,be seen that the Scranton & Binghamton Railroad Com-pany controls approximately 100 miles of street andinterurban railway and has under construction an ex-tension of its interurban tracks to the New York Stateline for the establishment of physical connection betweenits two systems, the latter work being planned for com-pletion late during the current SCRANTON & BINGHAMTON TRAFFIC PASSENGER TERMINAL AT SCRANTON being conceived with the idea of providing more fre-quent and satisfactory transportation facilities betweenScranton and the numerous thriving towns and villagesscattered through the rich agricultural district to thenorth. The enterprise had for its ultimate objectivethe connection of Scranton, by means of a high-speedelectric railway system, with the flourishing manu-facturing city of Binghamton, N. Y., as well as theprovision of passenger and freight service suitable forthe thickly-populated intermediate territory. Much hasbeen accomplished since the project was launched.
