Painted about 1798, ‘Professor Robinson’ is on eof the most notable portraits painted by Raeburn before 1800. It represents the culmination of his premier coup manner. Sir Henry Raeburn (1756 – 1823) was a Scottish portrait painter. He served as Portrait Painter to King George IV in Scotland.
