Ruins of the royal palace at the citadel of Sigiriya rock in Sri Lanka. Known as the Lion's Rock, the 180-metre high granite outcrop of Sigiriya was developed as a fortress and city during King Kassapa (also known as Kashyapa) reign, from 477 to 495. It was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982.
