The matter was inexplicable to the officers of thebank. The robber had burst open the trunk, stripped itof its valuable contents, opened the case which enclosedthe medal, and yet left that large piece of massive goldbehind. No motive could be discovered for such anact. The robber was finally arrested, the funds recQV-ered, and the law satisfied by a full term of service in thestate prison.
