W. (William) Holman Bentley (1855-1905), was an English missionary with the Baptist Missionary Society in the Congo. Bentley, an accomplished linguist, compiled the Dictionary of the Congo Language and translated the New Testament of the Bible into the Congo language. At the time of his death in 1905, he was involved in translation of the Old Testament.
