Thurlow's Sons, luo., lectured each afternoon on peonies and their culture before large audiences. For twenty varieties of double peonies T. C. Thurlow's Sons won, with quite fresh flowers of Baroness Schroeder, Mme. Emile Galle, Primevere, Mrs. C. S. Minot, Karl Rosenwald, Mnie. D'Hour, Albert Crousse, Elie Chevalier, Ava- lanche, Marquis de Lagergreeu, Eugene Verdier, L'Indispensable, Jules Calot, Mme. Manchet, Soulange, Milton Hill, Modele de Perfection, Constant Devred and Marie. For ten varieties the same exhibitors were first with Enchantress, Felix Crousse, Pierre du Chartre, Eu- gene Verdier, Marquis de Lagergreen, Walter Faxon, La France, Couronne d'Or, H. A. Hagen and Marie Lemoine. For six varieties rose pink, T. C. Thurlow's Sons won with Coquelin, M. Boucharlataine, Sir Charles Dilke, Mrs. Gessler, Jules Calot and Modele de Per- fection. For six varieties salmon ])ink, Thur- low's showed beautiful flowers of Eu- gene Verdier, Walter Faxon, Mme. Jules Dessert, Albert Crousse, Sarah Bernhardt and Milton Hill. For six varieties white, the same ex- hibitor had Couronne d 'Or, Baroness Schroeder, Enchantress, Marie Lemoine, Avalanche and Soulange. For six varieties red, Thurlow's were again to the fore with Cointe de Gor- mer, Felix Crousse, P]ugene Bigot, Karl Rosenwald, Constant Devred and tirover Cleveland. T. C. Thurlow's Sons received the silver medal for the (iiiest general dis- play. Their arrangement of flowers, in large vases on the floor of the hall, with branches of red cedar stuck among the vases so as practically to obscure them, and with cedar trees banked along the walls to give a good l>ackgronnd, made the disjilay a most pleasing one and the best this firm has yet staged here. All the flowers were of s])lendid size and color, and were arranged so tliat each flower show
