Marines at Fort McCoy for the 2nd Marine Air Wing’s Ullr Shield exercise work on drilling a hole in the ice while managing water filtration operations at Big Sandy Lake on South Post on Jan. 17, 2018, at Fort McCoy, Wis. Ullr Shield is a training exercise designed to improve 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing’s capabilities in extreme cold-weather environments. The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing is headquartered at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, Hundreds of Marines participated in the exercise at Fort McCoy.
