Effects of arteritis in the thigh. Coloured 3D frontal computed tomography (CT) angiograms of the thigh bones and arteries in a normal patient (left) and in a patient with arteritis (right). Both patients are male and 65 years old. Arteritis is inflammation of the arteries. Here, this has caused some of the superficial femoral arteries to be blocked (occluded, gaps at right), leading to the formation of new blood vessels by the collateral arterial networks.
